Welcome to the Young Scientists Programs

Special programmes and awards are available for talented young scientists. Also the Science Circle (SC) is meant in particular for young scientists such as the Lindau Nobel Laureate Group or the future Max-Planck-India-Fellows. Get in contact with us and have a look at the following programs!

Annual Nobel Meeting in Lindau

Since 2001 around 20 outstanding Indian students selected by the Indian Department of Science and Technology (DST) participate in the yearly Nobel Laureate Meeting on the picturesque banks of the Lake of Constance. There they have the opportunity to discuss closely with international Nobel Laureates professional but also general questions. The German Research Foundation (DFG) organizes subsequently a week’s trip through various research institutions all over Germany.

Helmholtz Young Investigators Groups

The promotion of young scientists being one of the key objectives of the Helmholtz-Association top junior scientists are granted independence early on with good conditions for research and secure career prospects based on proven scientific achievements.

European Young Investigator Award

The European research funding organisations, under the umbrella of the European Heads of Research Councils (EUROHORCS), have issued a second call for proposals for the European Young Investigator (EURYI) Award. The aim of the EURYI Award is to effectively enable and encourage outstanding young researchers from all over the world to work in one of the participating European countries in the programme for a five-year period. Indian researchers can apply to the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), who handles the proposals of applicants, who want to carry out their research work in Germany.

Indian young researchers can participate in postdoctoral DFG programs and in joint doctoral training programs within International Research Training Groups.

International Max-Planck-Research Schools

The Max-Planck-Gesellschaft promotes junior scientists through International Max-Planck-Research Schools (IMPRS). Various doctoral programs and in some cases MA programs are offered. Approximately 90 young Indian scientists are presently enrolled at IMPRS. Indian guest scientist thus constitute the largest single group of foreign nationals in this programme.
