DAAD Regional office New Delhi welcomes the new Director

From 1st July 2008, Ms Christiane Schlottmann took over as the new Director of the DAAD Regional office in New Delhi after holding various positions in DAAD Headquarters in Bonn and abroad. Ms Schlottmann joined DAAD in 1991. From 2002 - 2005, Ms Schlottmann headed the Cultural & Media Affairs section of the German Embassy in Kabul. Since September 2005 she was heading the section of Middle East and Gulf region at DAAD Headquarters in Bonn until being deputed to New Delhi in July 2008.

DAAD Annual Fellowships for 2009-10

  1. Fellowships for Young Researchers and Recent Post Doctoral Scholars:-

    Eligibility Criteria: Master's degree with a first class at Master's or Bachelor's level plus at least two years of teaching or research experience

    Age Limit: Candidates may apply within 4 years of obtaining permanent employment at a recognized Indian University/Research institution

  2. Sandwich Model Fellowships for Ph.D. Registered Scholars:-

    Eligibility Criteria: Open to scholars registered for a doctorate degree in India; Candidates must possess a Master's degree with a first class at Master's or Bachelor's level
     
    Age Limit: Candidates should have registered their PhD not more than 3 years prior to the scholarship application deadline

  3. Fellowships for Doctorate Studies in Germany:-

    Eligibility Criteria:A Master’s Degree, with first class at Bachelors’s or Master’s level

  4. Fellowships for Ph.D. Registered Scholars (2 – 6 months)+ M.Phil (German Studies):-

    Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must be registered for their Ph.D. with a university or research institute of university standard in India. M.Phil. candidates of German Studies may also apply for these fellowships

    Age Limit: Candidates should have registered for their PhD not more than 3 years / M.Phil in German Studies not more than 2 years prior to the scholarship application deadline

DIES- Partnerships with Universities in Developing Countries

The DAAD has funded the project titled “Initiation, Building-up and Improvement of International Cooperation Structures at the Institutes of Higher Education in India and Germany” under the ‘DIES-Partnerships Programme for 2008’. Participating Institutes: Leibniz University Hannover, VIT University, Vollore and MGIAS, Jaipur. 'DIES Partnerschaften' programme aims to encourage and promote partnership-based cooperation between universities in industrial and developing countries in the field of higher education management.

India-EU Study centre

EU Project for promotion of European Study Centres at indian and Modern India Study Centres at the european universities started in New Delhi on 1st July, 2008 at the German Centre for Research and Higher Education in Chanakyapuri. The project is being headed by ex-Director of DAAD Regional office New Delhi, Mr. Ulrich Podewils.

 DAAD Scholarships 2008 application procedure goes online

In order to accelerate the selection procedure for DAAD scholarships, online application was introduced for some scholarship programmes of the DAAD. The applications should be filled online, printed & together with the necessary documents mailed to the DAAD office. This will not only speed up the application procedure but also simplify the applicaton format for the applicants. Please note that the scholarship programmes that require online application need to be filled online first & then duly signed applications with documents should be sent to DAAD office. Direct applications will not be accepted.
